García Echeverría can best be described as a fantastic
testimony to the wonderful and frustrating paradoxes of Chicana-ness/Mexicana-ness/Latina-ness.
Estas mujeres usan una mezcla de fuerza, tristeza, enojo, carino,
y risa para expresar nuestra experiencia como mujeres en este
lado de la frontera. Sánchez masterfully creates a synopsis
of female identities in each of her poems that will remind the
reader of a family member, a tía, an hermana, an abuelita,
o de ella misma. García Echeverría, desarrolla
telerañas de palabras como una canción ranchera
que nos dice la vida entera y celebra el momento, bueno o malo.
Every representation she writes tells a truth of ourselves that
is rarely captured in words. This CD is a gift to our raza, debemos
gozarlo.
